The Samsung Galaxy Beam is an unusual Android phone - it looks
like the typical slab with a dual-core processor and moderately large, 4-inch
screen, but if you take a closer look, you’d notice that it comes with a
built-in projector. Unblemished with 15 lumens of brightness, it will stretch
out pictures from that 4-inch screen to up to a 50-inch frame. You can play
movies, photos, and slideshows, mirror what’s on your phone and even highlight
stuff with the built-in application. You can also use the Beam’s projector as a
very powerful flashlight with colors of your choice. Wow, isn’t it?
Samsung is trying to get a firm grip
into the projector phone segment with the inauguration of Galaxy Beam, which is
an Android 2.3 Gingerbread based smartphone with 1.0 GHz dual-core processor. Enabling
the segments of a smartphone and projector as well. Despite featuring a full built-in projector, the Galaxy Beam measures
just 12.5 mm thick and features an ergonomic design. It has 8 GB of internal
memory which can be expanded to 32 GB using SD card and a 2000 mAh battery,
with 5mp rear camera and a front vga camera. Display seems to be also good with
4.0 inch AMOLED screen.
What techdoll came through with
this review is that this phone is more of a smart phone for younger generations
than an essential corporate tool. The projector simply seemed to be better
suited for casual multimedia storing than pro tasks.
